Marin Cilic Title Search Continues Into Middle Months

Marin Cilic remains in search of a singles title on the 2018 ATP World Tour. He may have another shot at one at the Italian Open.
Croatian tennis star Marin Cilic kicked off his year on a high note. Reaching the finals at the Australian Open, Cilic fell to Swiss superstar Roger Federer as he took home his 20th career Grand Slam. The second place run, however, thrust the Croatian back into the spotlight.
He is still within the ATP Top 5 as of the middle of May. Now, Cilic is into the quarterfinals at the 2018 Italian Open. He is one of several seeded players making deep runs in Rome.

Up next for Cilic is world No. 11 Pablo Carreno Busta. The quarterfinals meeting will be a major challenge for the world No. 5. Carreno Busta is among the best in men’s singles tennis right now. Players such as he and Cilic are on the verge of taking over the tour. Beyond Federer and the King of Clay Rafael Nadal, there is a slew of players in the mix. Cilic brings fantastic veteran talent to the courts to go along with his skillsets. Recently, he was married but followed his personal celebration with a tough opening round loss.
Now, Rome is a chance at redemption and Cilic could easily get himself back on track on the 2018 ATP World Tour.
The 2018 Italian Open is seeing some of the best in men’s singles tennis go at it. Marin Cilic is one of several seeded players still alive in Rome as he reaches the quarterfinals.

Top seeded Nadal and second seeded Alexander Zverev might be the favorites right now. The 11th seed is Serbian great and former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic. Despite his past year of dealing with his ongoing elbow injury, Djokovic is capable of breaking out at any given tournament. Rome could be it for him as well. Marin Cilic needs to be at his very best in the quarterfinals. He is 15-7 in his ATP singles matches so far in 2018 but appears on the verge of a title-win.
