Eugenie Bouchard French Open 2018 Qualifying: the Canadian tennis star retires during the second set of her match against Dalila Jakupović.

Eugenie Bouchard French Open Update — The 24-year-old has continued to struggle on the WTA Tour since reaching career heights back in 2014. Her rocky year has included coaching changes along with her early tournament exits. Bouchard drops her meeting with Jakupović. The Slovenian tennis player advances, winning 6-0, 2-1 after Genie retired early in the second set.

Troubles on the court continue for the young Canadian tennis star. Her slide in the rankings has seen her tumble to the world No. 167 position with no end in sight. Genie needs to rediscover the part of her game that made her the No. 5 player in the world back in 2014. Doing so is proving easier said than done though. The WTA Tour is highly competitive right now.

Looking at her recent struggles on the WTA Tour, Genie might be having more success on social media than on the courts. The young Canadian has amassed an impressive following on Instagram and elsewhere on social media among her fans. That same success has not translated over to her play on tour though. She has a ways to go if she hopes to crack the WTA Top 100 in the near future.

Elsewhere at the 2018 French Open, Simona Halep and Caroline Wozniacki must be considered the players to beat. They are among the top players in women’s singles tennis right now. Others, such as Elina Svitolina and Angelique Kerber are also surging as of late. Kerber and Svitolina both have loads of momentum heading into play at Roland Garros.
