Eastbourne 2018: Wozniacki Wins, Eyes Wimbledon Next

Eastbourne action concludes with Caroline Wozniacki earning her second title at the event. Next, she looks ahead to Wimbledon.
Caroline Wozniacki is the champion in women’s singles at Eastbourne this week. The Danish tennis star continues her fantastic 2018 WTA Tour by earning a second career title at the Eastbourne International. Her previous title came in 2009. Wozniacki defeats Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka in the finals, winning in two hard fought sets.
Up next for Wozniacki is Wimbledon. She has plenty of momentum heading into the third Grand Slam event of the calendar year. After winning the Australian Open to kick off her 2018 tour, there is no doubt that she eyeing another major tournament title.

Throughout her run at Eastbourne, Wozniacki defeated the likes of Johanna Konta, Ashleigh Barty, and Angelique Kerber among others. Kerber, in particular, took the Danish tennis star to three sets, forcing Wozniacki to dig deep in the third. As for Sabalenka, the finals appearance is a major positive takeaway. She is just 20-years-old and ought to be someone to watch in the coming years.
Women’s singles tennis is experiencing a resurgence on the WTA Tour right now. Several rising stars are making names for themselves and proving that they can hang with the best in the sport. Wozniacki and other more seasoned players cannot discount anyone at Wimbledon.
The Eastbourne International title comes just days before action at Wimbledon for Caroline Wozniacki. She and Simona Halep are the players to beat at the Grand Slam.
