Serena Williams is not used to being in the underdog role as of late. She is doing phenomenal in it though at the 2018 Wimbledon Championships.

Serena Williams is arguably the greatest tennis player to ever grace a court. That goes for both men’s and women’s tennis. On the men’s side of course is Roger Federer, but the argument can be made for Williams being right there with him, if not ahead. Both players are already legends and yet they continue to play and make history. Williams had been sidelined from the WTA Tour following the birth of her child. With limited play in the past year, a run at Wimbledon seemed highly unlikely for the tennis star.

The American is into the round of 16 at Wimbledon. With three match wins under her belt, Williams could be putting on one of her most infamous major tournament runs yet.

Williams defeats Kristina Mladenovic of France in order to reach the round of 16 at Wimbledon. Mladenovic, an extremely accomplished player in her own right, falls in a tough straight set match to Williams. It looks as though the American has some enthusiasm and momentum right now at the Grand Slam. She is a former seven-time champion in women’s singles at the event. Overall, Williams has 23 Grand Slam singles titles, 14 in women’s doubles, and two in mixed doubles. Is another singles title on the horizon this year at Wimbledon?
