Delpo Chasing His Best Ever Wimbledon Performance

Delpo is eyeing a career best performance at the 2018 Wimbledon Championships. How far can Juan Martin del Potro go?

Juan Martin del Potro, aka Delpo, is chasing his career best performance at Wimbledon this year. The 2009 US Open champion in men’s singles is yet to win a title at the grass court Grand Slam, but he is faring well so far. His 2018 Wimbledon performance has been stellar so far. Delpo is yet to drop a single set, despite being challenged most recently by French tennis player Benoit Paire. It was Del Potro though, emerging with a straight set win over Paire in the round of 32.

Delpo reached the semifinals at Wimbledon during the 2013 ATP World Tour. He is one of the skilled veterans with tremendous experience remaining on the men’s singles side of the draw.

Roger Federer remains alive at the Wimbledon Championships. His historic play at the Grand Slam, combined with his defending champion status, makes him the favorite moving forward. He has appeared right at home in London this year. Federer, also into the round of 16, will need to fend off the likes of Delpo in others as the field dwindles. Only the best of the best will remain in the coming days, and Del Potro is one of them.

Juan Martin del Potro, aka Delpo, is in a career high singles ranking on the ATP World Tour yet again. At 29-years-old, he is playing better than ever.

Awaiting his next opponent at the Wimbledon Championships, Delpo is focused on a title. Earlier this year, he reached the semifinals at the French Open. While the title ultimately went to the King of Clay Rafael Nadal, Del Potro’s fantastic run was another example of his competitive play on the ATP World Tour. He is the current world number four in men’s singles tennis and is the fifth seed at Wimbledon this year. With 22 ATP singles titles, including his US Open victory, Delpo is among the top contenders in this and any tournament he plays.
