Novak Djokovic continues his winning streak at the 2018 Wimbledon Championships. The Serbian defeats Kyle Edmund on Saturday.
Novak Djokovic is a three-time champion in men’s singles at the Wimbledon Championships. This year, however, he was not expected to make a title-run. The Serbian is continuing on, reaching the round of 16 though. Djokovic has the experience necessary to put together a shot at the title despite his intermittent play over the past year on tour.
Djokovic, like several other top players in men’s singles tennis, has been battling ongoing injuries as of late. He is a former world number one, winning Wimbledon as recently as 2015. Beyond Roger Federer, He and Andy Murray have had some of the biggest impacts on the Grand Slam throughout the past decade. This year, Nole is a surprising bonus at the event.

The three-time Wimbledon champion defeats British number one Kyle Edmund in the round of 32 on Saturday. Edmund, who is playing some of his best tennis this year, saw Djokovic knock him out of contention in a tough four set match. Edmund did notch the first set, but it was all Djokovic from there. Nole remained the more consistent of the two, dominating on aces, first and second serves, and break points among other stat categories. The Serbian must be considered a serious contender for the title now. His success so far is showing him to be healthy enough to compete with the best in men’s singles tennis.
Novak Djokovic last won Wimbledon in 2015. While Roger Federer is the favorite this year, Nole stands a strong chance at a title.
Among the veterans still in action, Juan Martin del Potro also makes for an interesting player to watch moving forward. He, along with Federer, Milos Raonic, Kei Nishikori, Kevin Anderson, John Isner, Gael Monfils, and Rafael Nadal are all in the mix. The field is packed with talent on the men’s singles side of the draw. Novak Djokovic is faring well so far but he will need to complete a stellar second week of action at the Grand Slam in London.
