Kyle Edmund is one of the hottest young rising stars on the ATP World Tour. But, so is his upcoming opponent at the Rogers Cup.

British number one Kyle Edmund is on the up and up on the ATP World Tour. Having recently overtaken Andy Murray as the top-ranked British male, Edmund is making headlines in men’s singles tennis. The younger Edmund did square off against Murray amidst the former world number one’s comeback at the Washington Open though. There, it was the tennis legend who emerged on top, winning a hard fought three set match. That shouldn’t, however, slow down Edmund. He is the current world number 18 on the tour and is flirting with career bests.

Rogers Cup action splits the men and women’s fields between play in both Toronto and Montreal. While Edmund and his upcoming opponent Diego Schwartzman face off in Toronto, others on the WTA Tour such as Canadian favorite Eugenie Bouchard are in action in Montreal.

Schwartzman is just 25-years-old. Two years older than Edmund, he too is a rising star in men’s singles tennis. Earlier this year he claimed his second career ATP singles title. Winning in Buenos Aires, the Argentine once again made himself known to the tennis world. He is on the verge of career heights and could be poised to break into the ATP Top 10 for the very first time in his career. Schwartzman takes on Edmund first at the 2018 Rogers Cup.
