Novak Djokovic Closing In On Another US Open Title?

Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic is closing in on yet another US Open title. He wins his round of 16 meeting with João Sousa.

Novak Djokovic awaits his opponent for the 2018 US Open quarterfinals. Defeating João Sousa in the round of 16, Nole advances at the final grand slam of the calendar year. He is coming off of yet another major title at the Wimbledon Championships.

While Djokovic struggled to bounce back to the ATP World Tour after an ongoing injury, the former world number one appears to be back to his old form.

Like many other aging veterans in men’s singles tennis, Djokovic has dealt with ongoing injury issues in recent years. Stan Wawrinka, Kei Nishikori, and Milos Raonic have all felt the difficulties associated with coming back from an injury. Even Spanish great Rafael Nadal has seen himself need to take time away in order to rest and recover.

In Nadal’s case, it paid off. He is coming off of yet another French Open title. Djokovic is right there with Rafa. Easing into the ATP World Tour this year, he has found his footing and it culminated in a Wimbledon title.

Former world number one Novak Djokovic is a two-time champion at the US Open. Winning in both 2011 and 2015, Nole is inching closer to another shot at glory. Roger Federer, Nadal, and others such as Marin Cilic all remain alive though. The men’s singles field is stacked with talent heading into the action this week.
