By Harry Floyd
American tennis veteran John Isner matches his best ever run at the US Open. Falling in the quarterfinals, he put on quite a display at the event.
It has been quite a run for American tennis star John Isner this year at the 2018 US Open. Isner falls in the quarterfinals to Juan Martin del Potro, but his run matches his best ever at the grand slam event. The American previously reached the quarters back in 2011.
His stellar performance at the US Open this year comes after also matching career bests at both the French Open and then again at the Wimbledon Championships.
Isner made it to the semifinals at Wimbledon earlier this year. Falling to South African Kevin Anderson, the towering American came up one match shy of a shot at the title. His followup run at the US Open continues a fantastic year for Isner on the 2018 ATP World Tour. He has easily eclipsed fellow countryman Jack Sock on the tour, although Sock has seen some doubles success as of late.
John Isner has once again become a household name in American men’s tennis. He can take plenty of positives away from his quarterfinals run at this year’s US Open.
While John Isner is out of the US Open, action rolls on. The American’s run included wins over the likes of Milos Raonic among others. Del Potro moves on and awaits the winner of Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem. The defending champion takes on the young Austrian tennis star Tuesday night at Flushing Meadows. Elsewhere in the men’s singles field, Roger Federer sees a shocking upsets to Australian tennis player John Millman. The 29-year-old Millman reaches the quarterfinals and faces Djokovic next at the US Open. Stay tuned to see how Isner closes out the remainder of his 2018 ATP World Tour and how the rest of the action in men’s singles unfolds at this year’s US Open.
