Stan Wawrinka advancing at 2018 St. Petersburg Open

Swiss tennis star Stan Wawrinka is advancing at the 2018 St. Petersburg Open. He wins his round of 16 meeting over the fourth seed.

Stan Wawrinka is moving on at the 2018 St. Petersburg Open this week. He wins back to back matches, moving through the round of 16. His recent meeting with Karen Khachanov sees Wawrinka winning in straight sets. Taking Khachanov to tiebreak in both sets, the young Russian would not go away easily. The back and forth ended up in the hands of the Swiss tennis star and he knocks out the tournament’s fourth seed.

Prior to his meeting with Khachanov, Wawrinka defeated Aljaž Bedene.

Wawrinka is a veteran great on the ATP World Tour. While he is fighting to regain his place in the men’s singles rankings, his peers in Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic have been cruising along.

Djokovic is fresh off of wins at two recent grand slams. Nole took the men’s singles title at both the Wimbledon Championships and then again at this year’s US Open. He has emerged as the player to beat heading toward the ATP Finals in the Race to London.

Stan Wawrinka is regaining his footing on the ATP World Tour. The Swiss tennis star wins two matches at this year’s St. Petersburg Open. He defeats the tournament’s fourth seed in rising Russian star Karen Khachanov.

All eyes are on Stan Wawrinka this week at St. Petersburg. The former world number three was a runner-up at the tournament in 2016.
