Is Eugenie Bouchard getting back to her old self on the WTA Tour? She posts back to back wins at the 2018 Luxembourg Open.

Canadian Eugenie Bouchard ousts third seed Carla Suarez Navarro with ease this week at the 2018 Luxembourg Open. Genie takes just under 30 minutes to cruise through the first set against Navarro. Winning the first set 6-1, Bouchard set herself up to carry that momentum right into the second. She was unstoppable in the second set. Taking her meeting with the No. 3 seeded Suarez Navarro 6-1 6-0, Bouchard showed signs of her former world number five self.

Up next for the young Canadian is German tennis veteran Andrea Petkovic.

Prior to her win over Navarro, Bouchard was fresh off of a win over Timea Babos. Throughout much of the 2018 WTA Tour, Genie has struggled to gain consistency. Her run so far at the Luxembourg Open is proving that she has the ability to bounce back at any given moment. Cruising through her three qualifying matches, Bouchard then found herself up against two top players in women’s singles for her first two opening matches in the main draw.

The 24-year-old Canadian tennis player made headlines recently when she signed a new racquet deal. Maybe the turnaround is in the racquet. Probably not, but Genie has at least shown once again that she can turn her game around at any given tournament.

Eugenie Bouchard defeats third seeded Carla Suarez Navarro in straight sets at the Luxembourg Open. Winning 6-1 6-0, the young Canadian displayed shades of her former WTA Top 5 self. Up next for Genie in Luxembourg is Andrea Petkovic.

Elsewhere in tennis this week, another young star is seeing some unexpected singles action success. American Jack Sock wins an ATP singles match for what seems like the first time in a while. He has largely dominated in men’s doubles on the 2018 ATP World Tour, but Sock has failed to remain atop the rankings in men’s singles. The American takes an opening round win at the Stockholm Open. As for Eugenie Bouchard, stay tuned to see if she can keep up the momentum this week.
