Alexander Zverev Continues Resume Building Campaign

German tennis star Alexander Zverev defeats Roger Federer in a thrilling semifinals meeting at the 2018 ATP Finals in London.
A spot in the finals is secured for rising men’s singles star Alexander Zverev. He is through the semifinals at the O2 Arena this week, defeating arguably the greatest tennis player to ever step onto a court in Roger Federer. The Swiss legend can rest easy this offseason though. He knows that the 2018 ATP World Tour has been even better than what was expected of the 37-year-old veteran. He earned another grand slam singles title at the Australian Open and has been jockeying back and forth with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic for the top ranking all year long.
At the ATP Finals, however, it is time for Sascha to have a title shot. He awaits the winner of Djokovic and South African veteran Kevin Anderson.
The finals appearance is massive for Zverev. He is already proven amongst the best in men’s singles tennis. At such a young age, he has catapulted up the ATP rankings by winning big tournaments. An ATP Finals title would be quite the addition to his already impressive resume.
Alexander Zverev defeats Roger Federer in straight sets during the semifinals at the O2 Arena. He advances for a shot at a title in London, knocking out Federer 7-5 7-6 (5).
The field is damp packed with talent this year at the ATP Finals. While Djokovic has taken over the sport during the second half of the 2018 ATP World Tour, others such as his opponent in Anderson should not be discounted. If we assume that Nole meets Sascha in the finals though, the young German does have a 1-2 record against the world number one. He is not a complete underdog. Zverev also makes our list of the top 10 young men’s tennis player today.
Here’s a look at Alexander Zverev taking time to appreciate the fans coming out to support him in London. Hats off all around to Federer and his fantastic year on the 2018 ATP World Tour. Zverev advances though with a shot at glory. Check back to see how he fares in the finals.
