Fandom 250: Will Serena Williams rank even higher in 2018?

Serena Williams is an icon in sports, entertainment, lifestyle, and is just an all-around legend. Where will she rank in the Fandom 250?

American tennis legend Serena Williams will without a doubt be in the mix for the next Fandom 250. In 2017, she finished number 25 overall when she also came in as the fourth highest sports figure on the list. Now, we have to wonder where Williams will rank in 2018.

Looking back at previous Fandom 250 lists, Williams finished number 31 before jumping up six places last year. While she has not played as much tennis as of late, the American did win an Australian Open women’s singles title last year while pregnant with her Alexis. She continues to amaze the sports world year in and year out.

The WTA Tour has attempted to move on without the regular play of Williams but her impact on the sport will be felt forever. Her game has translated from the women’s singles action to doubles, mixed doubles, team competitions like the Fed Cup and Hopman Cup, and the Olympics. Williams is arguably the greatest tennis player to ever grace a court. The only other singles player who can enter the conversation is Roger Federer.

Where will Serena Williams fall in the Fandom 250? Last year, she came in at number 25.

Through 2018, Williams has 23 Grand Slam singles titles, 14 women’s doubles titles, and two in mixed doubles to go along with numerous other big tournament wins.

The former world number one is unparalleled in the tennis world. Her accomplishments will remain the benchmark for greatness in women’s singles for the foreseeable future. If anyone can catch her in the record books, we definitely don’t know who it could be as of yet. Because her fandom is so impressive too, Williams has made countless appearances outside of the traditional sports world. She makes an impact wherever she goes. There’s even a rumor swirling that she will make a WrestleMania appearance. No matter where Williams is, she is an icon.
