Croatian tennis star Marin Cilic will go down as one of the greats of his generation. Will he win another Grand Slam though?

Marin Cilic came sooo close to winning his second Grand Slam in men’s singles last year. Falling to Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer in the Australian Open finals, Cilic missed out on his first ever win at Melbourne Park. He is a one-time slam champion, taking the title at the 2014 US Open. That year, Cilic defeated Japanese great Kei Nishikori in the finals.

Previously, the Croatian also reached the finals at the Wimbledon Championships. Seeing a resurgence in the last two years, Cilic could threaten to take home his second Grand Slam singles title in the coming year. It will not come easy though.

Winning a slam is hard enough. Add on top of that the fact that Cilic is entering the second half of his career and facing rising ATP stars and veteran legends such as Federer, Rafael Nadal, and the red hot Novak Djokovic. Men’s singles tennis is an intense mix of talent right now and it’s not going to get any easier for the likes of Cilic and others.

How will Marin Cilic fare in the coming years?

Cilic will not be the favorite to win any of the slams on the 2019 ATP Tour. He will, however, be considered a top contender in many of them.

Those ones include the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. Although he has fared well at the French Open, Nadal must be the favorite there followed by the likes of rising stars Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev. Winning a Grand Slam might be tough in the coming years for Cilic, but he will undoubtedly take a few more ATP singles titles before it’s all said and done.
