Novak Djokovic is on fire right now on the ATP Tour. Back to back Grand Slam wins in 2018 have made him the favorite heading into the new year.

With the 2019 Australian Open right around the corner, Serbian tennis icon Novak Djokovic is emerging as the favorite in men’s singles. He is coming off of yet another career year. 2018 was the Year of Nole thanks to a beyond impressive comeback from ongoing injuries.

Djokovic, like many of his peers, has been battling lingering injuries throughout the better part of the past two years. In the middle months of the 2018 ATP Tour though, Djokovic found his footing and completely took off.

Winning back to back Grand Slam singles titles at the Wimbledon Championships and then at the US Open, Nole rocketed up the men’s singles rankings. He ends the year in the world number one position, just ahead of Spanish great Rafael Nadal and Swiss legend Roger Federer.

While Federer is defending two straight titles at the upcoming Australian Open, Djokovic is the player to beat on the men’s singles side. He has historically performed extremely well at Melbourne Park. Six of his 14 Grand Slam singles titles have come at the Australian Open, making him feel right at home at the first major of the calendar year.

Djokovic did not let up at all in 2018. He would reach the finals in London, taking on rising ATP men’s singles star Alexander Zverev at the O2 Arena. Zverev would take his first ever ATP Finals title, defeating Nole in straight sets. The run for Djokovic, however, was just another incredible outing where he took down the very best of the ATP Tour. There is no reason to think he will let up in the early months of 2019.
