Can Jack Sock bounce back in men’s singles on the 2019 ATP Tour?

American tennis star Jack Sock has had a career year in men’s doubles but can he rebound on the men’s singles side of the action?
Jack Sock has remained in the headlines thanks to fantastic men’s doubles play on the 2018 ATP Tour. Along with partner Mike Bryan, the young American notched Grand Slam doubles titles at both the Wimbledon Championships and then again at the US Open. He and Bryan partnered up after Bob Bryan went out due to injury.
While his men’s doubles success incredible for fans to watch, we now have to wonder in Sock can recollect himself on the men’s singles side of the ATP Tour.
Entering the 2019 ATP Tour, the young American comes in as the world number 106 in men’s singles tennis. He has gone as high as the world number eight position in men’s singles. That came just one year ago back on the 2017 ATP Tour. That year, Sock took him three ATP singles titles and was on fire.
The 2018 ATP Tour largely was dominated by the veteran greats. Roger Federer kicked off the year with a title at the Australian Open. Then, Rafael Nadal won yet another French Open title, defeating up and comer Dominic Thiem in the finals. But, Novak Djokovic emerged as the one and only player to beat in the second half of the year. Players like Sock remain relevant in men’s doubles, but men’s singles belonged to Djokovic.
Jack Sock put together a 9-21 men’s singles record in ATP action this past year. He will need to rediscover his play that we all know he is capable of if he hopes to rise in the rankings yet again. His doubles success has given him a bridge between a career year on the ATP Tour and now. 2019 could very well be the return of Sock in men’s singles tennis.
