The 2019 Australian Open men’s draw sees Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the same half. Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev makeup the other.

Roger Federer comes into the 2019 Australian Open as the Grand Slam’s number three seed. He is behind just Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. The fourth seed at Melbourne Park is the current ATP Finals champion in Alexander Zverev.

That means that Federer and Nadal line up in the same half of the draw as do Djokovic and Zverev in the other. HERE is a look at the entire men’s singles draw.

The splitting up of Federer and Djokovic means that two of the major tournament’s greatest champions have the potential to meet in the finals. Both Federer and Djokovic have six Australian Open titles in men’s singles a piece. It is the Swiss legend who is the current two-time defending champion. And, with the 2018 ATP Tour that Djokovic had, these two create the potential dream finals scenario.

Novak Djokovic is the top seed at the 2019 Australian Open. Can either Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal meet him in the finals?

We cannot forget about Nadal. It is fitting that Nadal and Federer are in the same half of the draw. Last year, the two battled back and forth for the top ranking in the sport for entire first half of the year. Federer took the title at Melbourne Park then Nadal claimed yet another at the French Open.

Over the years, Federer and Nadal have put on unprecedented displays of tennis in front of the fans and their seedings mean that only one can reach the finals at the Australian Open. Of course though, this is all on paper.

Anything can happen once the tournament is underway. An unexpected upset or a top player such as Zverev, Croatian great Marin Cilic, or even Kei Nishikori making a run could play spoiler to the likes of Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic. Cilic is the current runner-up and Nishikori has rediscovered his game in the last few months.
