Novak Djokovic is your champion in men’s singles yet again at the Australian Open. Can anyone stop him moving forward?

The 2019 Australian Open finals in men’s singles was a dream matchup. Novak Djokovic found himself up against friend and longtime rival Rafael Nadal. Both had been impressive so far at Melbourne Park. Djokovic, a six-time champion coming into the action was OUR PICK to win the title this year but Nadal showed himself to be someone to watch early on.

Heading into the finals, Nadal had not dropped a single set. Djokovic, who had to fight through one or two sets during his finals run, was near perfect. The men’s singles final saw the number one and two seeds battling for greatness.

Djokovic now goes down in Australian Open lore, defeating Nadal in straight sets. He wins their finals meeting 6-3 6-2 6-3. The world number one passes Swiss legend Roger Federer who also had six men’s singles title at Melbourne Park heading into this year. The Serbian is now a seven-time champion.

Novak Djokovic remains the player to beat in 2019.

We loved seeing Nadal in the finals though. Health has been a major concern for him in the last six months but his run proves that he has what it takes to battle for a Grand Slam title this year. He remained in fantastic condition and never let up for one second at Melbourne Park. Lookout for Rafa on the 2019 ATP Tour. He could challenge Djokovic throughout as the two battle to take the top ranking in the sport.

Moving forward, Djokovic remains the favorite in men’s singles on the 2019 ATP Tour. His seventh title at the Australian Open follows up his wins at both Wimbledon and the US Open last year. While Nadal, the King of Clay, is typically the favorite at Roland Garros, we may need to consider keeping an eye on Djokovic. His current momentum is unprecedented.
