Canadian Bianca Andreescu has made history by winning the women’s singles title at Indian Wells. The tennis world celebrates with her this week.

It comes as no surprise that 18-year-old Canadian tennis player Bianca Andreescu reaches career heights following her Indian Wells win on Sunday. Andreescu becomes the world number 24 in women’s singles, jumping an incredible 36 places in the rankings. At such a young age, her Indian Wells win over Angelique Kerber easily marks her biggest to date.

Here’s a look at both the men’s and women’s singles champions this year at the tournament. On the men’s singles side of the action, Dominic Thiem takes down one of the event’s greatest champions in Roger Federer. Both Thiem and Andreescu are riding high this week following their tremendous victories.

The tennis world is in lock step with the young Canadian and her celebrations. What an accomplishment. Andreescu found loads of support via social media and in the press following her win over Kerber.

In the finals match against the German veteran, Andreescu battled back and forth but ultimately emerged victorious by winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

Prior to her finals meeting with Kerber, she took down a full list of who’s who in women’s singles tennis. Here it is…

WTA Finals champion and red hot Elina Svitolina, former world number one Garbine Muguruza, the 18th seeded Wang Qiang, Swiss veteran Stefanie Vögele, and former world number four and WTA Finals champion Dominika Cibulková.

The list of players she defeated to get to a title would make anyone awestruck. Now, we have to wonder just what the young WTA star is truly capable of. If anything, Naomi Osaka is already proof that the best in the sport can come out of seemingly nowhere at the youngest of ages. Women’s singles tennis is packed with young talent capable of challenging the veteran greats such as Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Petra Kvitova, Kerber, and more mid-career stars such as Simona Halep.
