American tennis star John Isner drops his finals meeting with Roger Federer at the Miami Open. His reaction to losing is priceless.

John Isner fails to defend his Miami Open title in men’s singles. That doesn’t matter though. The towering American tennis veteran was still all smiles and laughs following his loss to Roger Federer this past weekend. Federer wins the finals match in straight sets, going 6-1, 6-4 over Isner. The two were, however, having fun on and off the courts.

Take a look at Isner’s Instagram posting following his Miami loss. The American said that there’s no shame in losing to a legend the likes of Federer and he’s absolutely correct.

We broke down the THREE BIGGEST TAKEAWAYS FOLLOWING THE MIAMI OPEN and Federer’s continued brilliance in 2019 is one of them.

Federer jumps into the world number four ranking in men’s singles tennis following his Miami win. Isner manages to remain in the ATP Top 10 as the number ten position.

If you’re going to lose to anyone on the ATP Tour, it’s Federer. Isner knows this better than anyone. There’s a few other names where you wouldn’t read too much into a loss…

Those include Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and maybe rising stars like Alexander Zverev or Stefanos Tsitsipas as of late. Zverev is possibly the next great tennis superstar. Veteran greats like Isner have proven that they’re here to contend on the 2019 tour.

Federer, Isner, Kevin Anderson, Juan Martin del Potro (when healthy), Milos Raonic, and Marin Cilic will all be top contenders throughout the year. And that’s all on top of Djokovic, who has slid in his recent tournaments, but remains the world number one in men’s singles tennis.

Check out that John Isner Instagram post again HERE for his full reaction. We already speculated whether or not a men’s singles Grand Slam could still be in the cards for the American but if he keeps it up, anything is possible. With the Miami Open in the books, we look ahead to the middle months of both the ATP Tour and WTA Tour. Stay tuned to see how the season progresses.
