We have Roger Federer, Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, and then of course coming in at #2 right now is Serbian great Novak Djokovic.

The current world number one Novak Djokovic is trailing just behind Rafael Nadal right now in terms of favorites in men’s singles at the 2019 French Open. Djokovic is the 2016 champion at Roland Garros. More importantly though, he has won all three of the previous three Grand Slams… Djokovic is red hot, even if he’s cooled off in his last two tournaments. Do not discount the Serbian tennis icon due to a few ups and downs at Indian Wells and the Miami Open.

While Nadal might be the odds on favorite in men’s singles at the French Open, Djokovic is the player to beat. Despite Rafa’s 11 titles in men’s singles there, someone has to knock Djokovic off track of his major tournament streak. Someone needs to step up and prove that they can beat the world number one when it matters most. Djokovic survived again at the Australian Open, defeating Nadal with ease in the finals.

The clay court season is another animal entirely though, even for Djokovic. He is currently close to a 2-1 pick to take the title at the 2019 French Open. His performances at Indian Wells and in Miami haven’t helped him but they haven’t knocked him far from the top either. Look for Djokovic to make a deep run no matter what. He could easily emerge as the true favorite if Nadal reveals himself to not be 100 percent healthy or if he gains momentum in the coming weeks.
