The semifinals are set in men’s singles at the 2019 Estoril Open. Let’s dive deeper into the who’s left in the final four and who could reach the finals.
Action in men’s singles reaches the semifinals at the 2019 Estoril Open. We have the top seed still in the mix but anything can happen in the final four. Stefanos Tsitsipas has displayed some brilliant tennis so far at the tournament. As the top seed and favorite, he must be considered the player to beat. In front of him during the semifinals, however, is another star in men’s singles.
Belgian tennis player David Goffin is the fourth seed at the Estoril Open. He already has an accomplished career and could lean on his experience as he continues on. Goffin takes on Tsitsipas in the semis for a highly anticipated matchup.
We are taking Goffin in this one. It’s a tough one to call though. The two players have gone back and forth against one another throughout their careers. Take a look at their career head to head here. Tsitsipas has scoreboard but it’s just by one match. He is 3-2 against Goffin and the Belgian has a shot to even the score during the Estoril Open semifinals.
The other semifinals meeting goes down between 19-year-old Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and veteran Pablo Cuevas. This is an extremely interesting matchup that is a total tossup. The young Spanish tennis player is on a dream run right now. Davidovich Fokina is coming off of wins over French tennis star Gael Monfils and Jeremy Chardy.
Their match represents what is happening in men’s singles tennis at the moment. Plenty of veteran greats remain in contention but there are rising stars everywhere you look. We are going to take Davidovich Fokina in this one. Cuevas is coming off of a massive upset over American tennis star Frances Tiafoe but we think his time comes to an end in the semifinals. Who do you have in this one?
