Estoril Open Reenforces Stefanos Tsitsipas Arrival to ATP Tour

Stefanos Tsitsipas is now the 2019 Estoril Open champion in men’s singles tennis. He wins his third tour-level singles title.
Action in men’s singles at the 2019 Estoril Open concludes with one of the sport’s best rising stars on top. Greek #NextGenATP player Stefanos Tsitsipas defeats Pablo Cuevas 6-3, 7-6 (4) in the championship match. It is his first clay court title and his third career ATP singles title. Earlier this year, he took home a win in Marseille and now it appears as though he was just getting started.
Men’s single tennis needs to lookout for Tsitsipas. He is on fire right now and is showing no signs of letting up. Tsitsipas was one of our top ten rising ATP stars to watch. Now, we may have wished we put him atop the list.
The 2019 ATP Tour is seeing several familiar names top the rankings. Tsitsipas is not one of them. He is just 20-years-old and is hanging with the best of the best in men’s singles. As others such as Alexander Zverev stumble this year, Tsitsipas’ stock is rising.
Zverev recently splashed out of the BMW Open where he was the two-time defending champion in men’s singles. His loss will give way to Swiss tennis icon Roger Federer reentering the ATP top three, behind just Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
All eyes are turning toward the upcoming French Open. Action in Madrid next will give certain players the opportunity to build upon their newfound momentum prior to the Grand Slam. Tsitsipas himself is headed there next where he is scheduled to play alongside Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands in men’s double first.
