Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer among early Madrid Open winners

Action at the 2019 Madrid Open is underway. Several of the top players, including the three best in the sport are among the early winners.
The big three are off to winning starts at the 2019 Madrid Open. Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are surely among the heavy favorites this year. Both win their round of 32 matches with ease, as does fourth seed Roger Federer. Another player to watch is third seed Alexander Zverev.
Djokovic kicks off his Madrid Open run win a 6-4 6-2 win over young American tennis player Taylor Fritz. The top seed advances and will face Jeremy Chardy next.

As for the King of Clay, he dispatches up and comer Felix Auger Aliassime in a 6-3 6-3 match that displayed Rafa’s brilliance. He does have tough matchup with another rising ATP star next.
Nadal takes on American Frances Tiafoe in the round of 16. Tiafoe is coming off of wins over Philipp Kohlschreiber and Nikoloz Basilashvili.
Federer takes his meeting with Richard Gasquet, winning 6-2 6-3. It is the exact start that the Swiss tennis legend was looking for. He faces a big challenge in French veteran Gael Monfils next though. Monfils has already seen plenty of 2019 ATP Tour success and this matchup will force both to be at their absolute best.
Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer remain atop the list of players to beat in men’s singles at the 2019 Madrid Open. The path to a title, however, is littered with lots of capable challengers. The big three cannot discount anyone, especially in these upcoming round of 16 matches later this week.
