Novak Djokovic has won three consecutive Grand Slam singles titles. Can he make it four by winning the 2019 French Open?
Novak Djokovic is atop the sport of tennis. He is the world number one and appears to be unstoppable in men’s singles. The Serbian superstar has won the last three Grand Slam singles titles, starting with Wimbledon last year. After taking time away from the courts due to injury, Djokovic roared back, winning Wimbledon, the US Open, and then the Australian Open to kick off 2019.
Now, we have to wonder just when Djokovic will let up… if ever. The clay court season is typically the time of year for Rafael Nadal to shine. While he may still do that, you cannot discount Djokovic as we approach the French Open.

Nadal is an 11-time champion at Roland Garros. Djokovic has just one title. That came back in 2016 when he defeated Andy Murray in the finals. Another great tennis player in Roger Federer is also just a one-time winner at Roland Garros.
We have already speculated as to whether or not Federer stands a chance at the title this year. The field in men’s singles is packed with incredible talent at the 2019 French Open.
Djokovic is on fire right now on the ATP Tour. His last five titles are a combination of three Grand Slam singles wins and two Masters 1000s. He appears almost unstoppable.
As of writing, Djokovic is into the quarterfinals of the Madrid Open. Federer and Nadal are also faring well in Madrid, along with the likes of Alexander Zverev, Dominic Thiem, and others.
The upcoming French Open is surely going to feature the veteran legends like Djokovic taking on the up and coming clay court stars. Players like Zverev and Thiem have already tasted success on clay, not to mention other surfaces. Last year, Thiem reached the finals only to fall to Nadal in straight sets. The young Austrian ought to be someone to keep an eye on again. Djokovic needs to account for both his peers and the must-watch rising ATP stars in men’s singles.
So, can Novak Djokovic win the 2019 French Open title in men’s singles? The answer is 100 percent YES. Nadal may be the two-time defending and overall 11-time champ, but Djokovic is the player to beat right now on the ATP Tour. These two must be considered the top two favorites with several other veterans and up and comers immediately behind them.
