Everyone is analyzing the men’s singles draw at the 2019 French Open so let’s take a look at none other than where Novak Djokovic falls. The world number one is, of course, the top seed this year at Roland Garros. He and King of Clay Rafael Nadal are the top two players at the major tournament and should be considered the players to beat.
Up first for Djokovic is Hubert Hurkacz of Poland. The 22-year-old tennis player has his work cut out for him against the world number one at Roland Garros.
We have to give Djokovic a massive advantage in their upcoming matchup at Roland Garros. The two square off for the round of 128 meeting on Sunday at the French Open. Hurkacz is the current world number 43 on the ATP Tour.
So far on the year, Hurkacz is 11-10 in his ATP singles matches. He is yet to take home a men’s singles title throughout his young career. Previously, the Polish tennis player reached the second round of action at Roland Garros.
Djokovic has won the last three Grand Slams in men’s singles. He enters action as the top player in men’s tennis. He has appeared almost unstoppable for the better part of a year now. While Nadal has begun to assert himself on clay by taking the title at the Italian Open, Djokovic should probably still be considered the favorite at Roland Garros.
We break down the top five favorites in men’s singles at the 2019 French Open here. As you can guess, Djokovic is among them. He should move past his young challenger on Sunday with ease. Do you think Hurkacz has a shot against the world number one at Roland Garros this weekend?
