By Harry Floyd
The second seed goes up against the third seed this week when Rafael Nadal takes on Roger Federer at the 2019 French Open.
It probably comes as no surprise that King of Clay Rafael Nadal is into the semifinals at the French Open yet again. It might come as a surprise, however, that Roger Federer will be standing on the other side of the net when Rafa takes the court later this week. The two tennis legends face off in the Roland Garros semifinals.
Federer is playing the French Open this year. He’s also dominating his opponents, dropping just a single set to Stan Wawrinka in the quarterfinals. Rafa is on fire though too, also dropping just one set to David Goffin back in the round of 32. So, who will win their upcoming matchup?

Nadal has a career scoreboard against Federer. He is 23-15 in men’s singles matches between the two. Federer, however, has won their previous six matches.
Nadal, however, is the historical clay court favorite, no matter who he’s facing. All of these points make this matchup nearly impossible to predict.
The odds favor Rafa… maybe. Nadal is coming off of a brilliant performance over top men’s singles tennis player Kei Nishikori in the quarterfinals.
Nishikori was the seventh seed and had reached the quarters for the third time in his career. Nadal wasted no time though, winning their matchup with ease. He goes 6-1 6-1 6-3 over Nishikori.
Federer defeated Wawrinka in four sets, but his fellow countryman did take him to tiebreak twice during their match. Both Nadal and Federer have momentum in very real ways. This semifinals meeting is more or less a flip of a coin. It is a complete toss-up. We can be certain that though that these two will not disappoint when they take to the courts in just a few days.
