Sloane Stephens Congratulates French Open Champion Rafael Nadal
By Harry Floyd
With the French Open behind us, the victory tour continues for King of Clay Rafael Nadal and stars like Sloane Stephens send their congratulations.
American tennis star Sloane Stephens is the 2017 US Open champion in women’s singles. She has reached the finals at the French Open before, finishing runner-up to Romanian superstar Simona Halep in 2018 at Roland Garros. Stephens sends her congratulations to King of Clay Rafael Nadal via social media following his win.
Take a look at this picture that Stephens shared with fans this week. She and Rafa seem more than thrilled for the 12-time Roland Garros champion in the photo.

Stephens would caption the post on Twitter with “12 RG TITLES!!??? Insanely impressive – what a legend. Congrats @RafaelNadal save some for the rest of us #RG19.”
Rafa’s 12th title is indeed impressive and now all eyes are on him. With Wimbledon rapidly approaching, Nadal is a top contender on the men’s side of things. He is a former two-time champ in London. Others, such as defending champion Novak Djokovic though, could be tough competition for the Spanish superstar on the grass courts.
What about Stephens on the women’s singles side? The American reached the quarterfinals at the third Grand Slam of the calendar year back in 2013. She is a US Open winner but needs to prove that she has what it takes to win on grass. Stephens is plenty capable of shocking the field.
We could easily see her making a deep run at the upcoming major tournament. She is coming off of a quarterfinals appearance at Roland Garros this year. Falling to Johanna Konta, Stephens left the French Open having defeated four players including Garbine Muguruza.
Hats off to Nadal on his 12th career French Open men’s singles title. We will keep an eye on Sloane Stephens moving forward. For now, she is excited for her friend and fellow tennis player, the three-time defending champ at Roland Garros.
