Action at the 2019 Stuttgart Open is underway. Let’s take a look at who’s winning and who’s losing in men’s singles at the tournament.

Stuttgart Open tennis follows play at Roland Garros and has been a grass court tournament since the 2015 tour. Interestingly enough, King of Clay Rafael Nadal was the first champion on grass there back in 2015. This year, Rafa is not in action following his 12th men’s singles title at the French Open.

The top seed in Stuttgart this year is German tennis star Alexander Zverev. He will open his play against Dustin Brown in the round of 16. Already winning though is Canadian tennis player Milos Raonic who is into the quarterfinals.

Raonic has two match wins under his belt at the 2019 Stuttgart Open. He defeats both Alexei Popyrin and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to setup a meeting with Márton Fucsovics in the quarterfinals next. Raonic is the sixth seed in men’s singles.

Although Raonic is advancing, two other seeded players see early exits. Third seed Daniil Medvedev drops his round of 16 match with Lucas Pouille. Fourth seed Nikoloz Basilashvili also falls, losing his round of 16 match against Fucsovics. Pouille will take on Jan-Lennard Struff next in the quarterfinals.

Other players to watch in the remaining round of 16 matches include French tennis veteran Gael Monfils. He goes up against Denis Kudla following a three-set win over American tennis player Steve Johnson. Like the top seed, Karen Khachanov is also gearing up for his opener at the Stuttgart Open where he will take on Matteo Berrettini.
