Carlos Alcaraz is the new king of tennis after winning Wimbledon and likely will stay that way for a very long time. He has a versatile game that could even become more consistent and tools better developed. While that’s difficult to believe, Alcaraz is probably just at the beginning of his powers.

Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic in five sets 1-6 7-6(6) 6-1 3-6 6-4 and, in doing so, won his second Grand Slam. Alcaraz is only 20 years old and could one day surpass Djokovic’s 23 Grand Slams if he stays committed to tennis and healthy. But he also has the skills to be one of the best players ever.

Plus, fans love him. Heck, even his fellow players like him a lot. He plays with a joy that is refreshing and what tennis needs. How happy people were that he won Wimbledon showed on Twitter.

Twitter loves it some Carlos Alcaraz

Let’s start with Alcaraz’s hero Rafael Nadal. Nadal won two Wimbledons and beat Roger Federer in five sets once. Alcaraz‘s victory over Djokovic felt similar.

Victoria Azarenka was simply blown away – as we all were – by Alcaraz’s play. It’s one thing for a fan to like what Alcaraz can do, but from a player who has won at a high level, it is just different.

Nick Kyrgios, while an excellent player on his own, especially win healthy, doesn’t seem to watch his sport much. He did on Sunday. And he loved what he saw.

The official Twitter handle for the ATP Tour showed the ending of the match. Always special when you see a player react to winning a major, but one might wonder how many more Slams that Alcaraz will win.

Actor Brad Pitt hasn’t tweeted anything about the match, but he was there. And Wimbledon Twitter caught his reaction to one of the points. This is likely how most of us felt during almost the entire match.
