Tennis fans are ready for the first Grand Slam of the 2025 season, right? Sure, maybe it takes place a little too early and if the Australian Open could be pushed back to March, that might feel more natural. The issue is that we would begin reaching the autumn in Australia then. While the temperatures might be nicer for players, the crowd might be smaller.

No matter. The major in Melbourne begins on Sunday, January 12, and will run through Sunday, January 26. It will be hot, but the players understand that.

We already know the seeding is based on WTA and ATP rankings. In other words, the top seeds are going to be Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner. This appears right and good as both players won the event in 2024. Despite their seeding, both players should be expected to repeat in 2025 too. But who will they play and what will their ends of the draw look like?

How to watch and stream the draw for the 2025 Australian Open

The draw for the major will take place on Thursday, January 9. If you live in the Eastern time zone of the Western Hemisphere, you will have to stay up a bit late to watch the live draw. That is expected to take place at 2:30 pm AEDT, which is 10:30 pm ET. That isn't too late, though, and surely you can make that.

The draw will be hosted by Todd Woodbridge and Jelena Dokic, and it will be conducted by tournament director Craig Tiley and tournament referee Wayne McKewen. The great part is that it is all live so there can be no argument as far as some seeds intentionally having an easier time than others.

The seeds are selected by numbered chips that the hosts. An interesting part is that the chips are then placed in the trophies, but Sabalenka and Sinner will take part because they will be bringing the trophies they won in 2024 back for the draw on Thursday.

But how can you watch or stream the draw? It is fairly simple and straightforward. If you happen to live near Melbourne, just go to Melbourne Park and the steps of the Margaret Court Arena and you can watch the draw on the screen.

If, like most of the rest of us, you do not live in Melbourne, you can stream the event on the Australian Open YouTube channel and on the tournament's Facebook page. Again, depending on where you live, you might just need to stay up late to watch the draw.
