By Lee Vowell
Rejoice, tennis fans! The 2025 tennis season is almost upon us. The United Cup will start on Saturday, December 28. The Brisbane Internation begins on December 29. And the Hong Kong Open will start on December 30.
For our purposes here, though, the Brisbane International will feature both ATP and WTA matches. For the WTA, this is a 500 event, and will have the No. 1 player involved. The tournament will be 250 event for the ATP.
But when is the tournament? How can you watch? All that information is below.
When is the 2025 Brisbane International?
Qualifying for the event is already underway, but the full schedule begins on Sunday, December 29, and will run through Sunday, January 5. Both the women's and men's finals will be played on that day.
Who is playing at the 2025 Brisbane International?
While Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz won't be playing, that does not really matter. Novak Djokovic, who said he would focus more on Grand Slams and helping Serbia win international events in 2025, has chosen to take part in Brisbane as well. He won't be coached by Andy Murray yet, though. That won't happen until the Australian Open.
Nick Kyrgios will make his return to the ATP in Brisbane. He is an Australian native, of course, so he should get strong backing from fans. He should be a fun watch.
Other top players on the ATP side include Grigor Dimitrov, Holger Rune, Frances Tiafoe, and Alexei Popyrin. Only two top-ten players (Djokovic and Dimitrov) are involved.
On the WTA side, top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka will play. She will use the tournament as a warm-up to the Australian Open, a major she has won in each of the past two years. Her closest competition will be No. 7 Jessica Pegula and No. 8 Emma Navarro.
