The 2025 Charleston Open will hold its second day of the round of 32 on Wednesday, and so far, the tournament has gone as planned. All the top seeds who have played so far have advanced. Day 3 will feature top seed Jessica Pegula and third-seeded Qinwen Zheng.
The 2024 champion, Danielle Collins, has struggled since the Olympics last year, but she got off to a fantastic start in Charleston as she defeated Robin Montgomery 6-3 6-1. Second-seeded Madison Keys had a slightly more challenging time with fellow American Caroline Dolehide, but she was able to get through in straight sets as well.
Neither Collins, Keys, nor any of Tuesday's winners will play on Wednesday, but will face Wednesday's winners in the round of 16 on Thursday. The rest of the tournament will be played by round each day until the final is held on Sunday.
What is the weather forecast for Day 3 of the 2025 Charleston Open?
The question with Charleston, just as it can be with Miami, though to a slightly lesser degree, is whether play will be affected by thunderstorms. So far, the tournament has not had any issues. According to the Weather Channel, there is a small chance of rain throughout the day on Wednesday, but play is likely not to be affected. The wind is expected to gust only up to 12 mph as well.
The rest of the week looks relatively clear, too. The next chance of rain is not until Monday, a day after the Charleston Open is done.
