In the 2025 Miami Open women's final, Jessica Pegula will try to follow in the footsteps of Madison Keys and Mirra Andreeva and defeat WTA No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in an important final. Keys did it at the Australian Open, and Andreeva beat the Belarusian at Indian Wells. Pegula is playing well enough to give Sabalenka issues, too.
Sabalenka is probably playing better, however. Unlike the American, who has had three of her last four matches go a full three sets, the Belarusian has not dropped a set in the entire tournament.
Sabalenka also leads the head-to-head between the players 6-2, and that includes winning five of the last six. Every match they have played since their very first at the Cincinnati Open in 2020 has gone straight sets. This one is likely to do the same with Sabalenka winning.
What will the weather be like when Aryna Sabalenka plays Jessica Pegula in the Miami Open final?
According to the Weather Channel, wind might be an issue, as gusts during the match could be up to 17 mph. Rain might also play a factor, though these would be more like pop-up thunderstorms. The issue is that the center court of the Miami Open is open, so rain prior to the match could also delay the start.
Between 1 pm ET and 4 pm ET (an hour after the match is set to start), there is at least a 37 percent chance of thunderstorms. This increases to 42 percent at 1 pm ET, so there would at least be an opportunity for the court to dry before the scheduled match time.
In other words, there is at least a small chance that weather affects the outcome. It won't be a complete washout, but the wind could make the match longer than normal if players are constantly pausing before serving the ball until the wind diminishes.
