This is the final year of the Atlanta Open. When the ATP decided to move around some of its 2025 tournaments - raising a few to 500 level and expanding the schedule on a couple of 1000-level events - the Atlanta Open got squeezed out. After 14 years, the event was done.

That meant that tournament organizers were not going to pour lots of money into the 2024 tournament. Part of the stands were temporary and only held a bit over 3,000 people. Most of them weren't filled to capacity either, but came close. Of course, this is partly to blame for holding an event in Atlanta in the middle of July. It's not called Hotlanta for no reason, after all.

The players involved were also seemingly affected by a lack of proper scheduling in Atlanta as well as some cutbacks with the food, at least according to Liam Broady. The Brit took to social media to complain that he was scheduled to play at 10 am, but the food service did not open until 9 and even then all the players got were bagels. That is not exactly the breakfast of champions.

Broady also added in his X/Twitter post, "Really good for a high standard of tennis and tennis tournament in Atlanta." Ouch. What a way to trash a tournament that will be closing its doors after a decade and a half. Still, Broady was likely correct.

Andy Murray took notice of Broady's tweet and felt compelled to respond and he wrote, "Hope you are ok mate. That sounds terrible. Surprised you hadn’t checked the breakfast situation ahead of time like most professionals would have done."

Of course, Murray and Broady are chums, so there are no hard feelings. In fact, Murray's swipe likely entertained thousands of tennis fans. It all made for a nice respite in a world that is ever-changing and sometimes scary.

Broady was not about to be outdone by Murray, however. He retorted, "You have five people just to wipe your bum for you man you’ve never checked a situation ahead of time in your life we are not the same."

Good point and well said by Broady. Murray has won three Grand Slams and been ranked ATP No. 1 for a while. Broady, on the other hand, has never won a title and has a career record of 21-34. He was bounced out of the Atlanta Open in qualifiers in three sets by J.C. Shang.
