Hollywood movie stars shone bright at Indian Wells
Hollywood stars love tennis also. Indian Wells, California, also known as "Tennis Paradise," is a great place for them to come out and watch the action.
Zendaya, starring in the tennis-themed movie "Challengers" coming out on April 26, was on hand to watch Iga Swiatek capture her second Indian Wells title. In addition to watching the match, she spent time with Swiatek afterward and posed for pictures. Zendaya came to Indian Wells with her actor boyfriend Tom Holland.
Some social media tennis fans commented that the Zendaya appearance was a staged publicity stunt for the movie. They compared it to when television stars are at the World Series or Super Bowl so the network can promote their upcoming projects. Regardless, the pair were spotted singing in the stands and having a great time together.
Academy Award winner Charlize Theron was also at Indian Wells
Charlize Theron is embracing her tennis fandom with a great couple of weeks as a spectator at big events. Theron was at the Netflix Slam featuring Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal on March 3 in Las Vegas, and she was at Indian Wells to watch the weekend's tennis festivities.
VIPs from other walks of life were present also. Former players Monica Seles, Martina Navratilova, and Tracy Austin were there, and Bill Gates made his annual appearance at Indian Wells.
The Sunshine Double consisting of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells and the Miami Open brings out the stars on both coasts each spring. Expect more stars, including Miami Heat athletes, in Miami over the next two weeks watching tennis. Swiatek and Alcaraz will be trying to win their first Sunshine Double which is a tough task given the amount of travel, tennis, and competition they face in the month of March.
