By Cayla Childs
This year's Miami Open is quickly approaching and will include some pretty impressive headliners. World No.1s Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek will both be in attendance along with Carlos Alcaraz, Stephanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Coco Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka, Holger Rune and so many others!
This will be Djokovic's first time at the tournament since 2019. He was not able to compete in past years due to COVID-19 and U.S. travel restrictions. The current world #1 holds a total of six Miami Open titles and hopes to acquire a seventh this year. Many players aren't too pleased with this news as it means that the journey to the trophy will be that much harder with Djokovic in the running.
The reigning champion, Daniil Medvedev will make a comeback as well as the newly crowned Australian Open champ, Jannik Sinner!
The Miami Open will be a star-studded event
Some American standouts who will be fan favorites include Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Frances Tiafoe Ben Shelton, and Coco Gauff. Gauff is coming off an awesome 2023 season so she will be one of the players to keep an eye on.
Some exciting wild cards to look forward to include Venus Williams, Kei Nishikori, Caroline Wozniacki, and Emma Raducanu. A wild card gives immediate entry into the first round to a player who otherwise wouldn't have qualified because of ranking. Sometimes a wild car can be a surprise tournament winner as well.
Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina, two trailblazers on the women's side, will both be in attendance as well. It is always an intense match when these two face off against each other.
The Miami Open is one of the most popular US tournaments not only for its beautiful location and weather, but for the awesome atmosphere it offers to all of those in attendance. From the food to the photo ops and merch shops, the opportunities are endless.
