The 2024 edition of the Laver Cup begins on Sept. 20, where Team World will look for a third consecutive victory over Team Europe when the two sides clash in Berlin. Team Europe, winners of four editions of the Laver Cup in the past, will look to capture the title for the first time since 2021.

Many of the best players in the world are taking part in the event, as Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev headline the stars on Team Europe, while Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe are two of the big names competing for Team World. When looking at the past versions of the Laver Cup, it seems like the momentum has shifted. After initial dominance from the Europeans, Team World has bounced back nicely by going back-to-back in 2022 and 2023.

To get fans prepared for the seventh edition of the event, here is a list of the past Laver Cup winners.

Past Laver Cup winners

2017 (inaugural edition): Team Europe

Team Europe became the first Laver Cup champions when the tournament began in 2017. The winning side featured Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, who teamed up and won a doubles match together against Sam Querrey and Jack Sock. Team Europe defeated Team World 15-9.

2018: Team Europe

Team Europe went back-to-back, winning the second edition of the Laver Cup in 2018. The match was tight heading into the final day, but Alexander Zverev sealed it for Team Europe with a three-set win over Kevin Anderson. Team Europe defeated Team World 13-8.

2019: Team Europe

In the closest final score in the history of the event, Team Europe came out on top once again to capture its third consecutive Laver Cup. Roger Federer went 2-0 in singles play in the tournament, defeating John Isner and Nick Kyrgios. Team Europe defeated Team World 13-11.

2021: Team Europe

After there was no event in 2020 due to COVID-19, Team Europe came out and thrashed Team World in 2021. Only one of the four matches scheduled for the final day were played, as the Europeans wrapped things up with a doubles victory by Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev. Team Europe defeated Team World 14-1.

2023: Team World

Team World proved that it was not just luck in 2022, as they did it again in 2023. Like 2021, the event featured a blowout victory for the winning side.
