Taylor Swift watches Jannik Sinner draw first blood at US Open final

The Kansas City Chiefs opened their 2024 NFL season on Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens. That is important information for what happens next. Most of the time, NFL players would be busy on Sundays playing games, but the Chiefs were not on Sunday.

This is one reason Taylor Swift, who has a home in New York, was able to be at the final between Jannik Sinner and Taylor Fritz. She wasn't there alone, though. She was with her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his friend (and fellow Chief) Patrick Mahomes. Kelce is a tight end with the Chiefs and Mahomes is the quarterback.

Swift seemed to be actively rooting for fellow American Fritz in the match. That makes sense. Still, Swift, Mahomes, and Kelce also appeared to be fair and cheered on a great point no matter whether it was from Fritz or Sinner.

Fritz needed any help he could get, however. He was broken twice in the first set and dropped the set 3-6. Sinner is normally the more consistent player overall anyway. He hits with as much pace as Fritz and moves around the court a slight bit better.

In the first set, the Italian jumped to a 2-0 lead as Fritz appeared to be a bit nervous. Fritz was able to get the break back, though, to even the set. While Fritz is one of the better servers in tennis, Sinner is among the best returners. His pure tennis skill seemed to be getting the better of Fritz to start the match.

Of course, as Grand Slam matches are best-of-five sets, there was still a long way to go after the first set. Taylor Swift appeared to be glued in for the long term. As for Kelce and Mahomes, they might be thinking about their next game which is against the Cincinnati Bengals on September 15.
