Tennis is not Venus Williams' only sports interest. She is a part owner of the Miami Dolphins. Williams leveraged her love of football and her interest in keeping young girls engaged in high school sports by coaching a flag football team in a game in Las Vegas recently.

Dove hosted the event, and the brand enlisted San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Steve Young to coach the opposing team. The game was called the "45 Yard Line" to promote awareness of the sobering fact that 45% of girls drop out of sports by the age of 14. This can be due to various issues, mainly low self-confidence.

Along with Williams and Young, who coached his daughter's high school flag football team this past season, entertainer, Ciara, wife of Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson was on the scene to lend her support and cheer for the girls.

Venus Williams is keeping busy while not playing tennis

Wiliams has not played competitive tennis so far in 2024, but retirement is not in her immediate future. She has many interests outside of tennis including her business ventures. One of those ventures recently made headlines. EleVen by Venus, her signature athletic wear clothing line that she wore at her matches, has paused operations. The brand, founded in 2007, is undergoing a strategic refinement.

When she does return to the court, it is unclear what brand of clothing she will be wearing. Last fall, she predicted that she would be back in March. That could mean either Indian Wells or Miami. Given the fact that she lives in Florida, Miami may be the more likely choice for the 43-year-old Williams.

Willams is comparable to Andy Murray on the ATP Tour. Any time she takes the court is a blessing and privilege for fans to see.
