Wimbledon begins next week which continues a great run of events for tennis fans. The French Open wrapped up at the beginning of June. After the grass-court major, the Olympics will be held in late July and that should feature some players who won't be playing at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

This venue has held the tournament since 1877. Contrary to popular belief, Novak Djokovic did not win the title that year. That would be a good guess, though, since the Serb has 24 Grand Slam titles, the most by any men's player.

Unlike the Australian Open and French Open, Wimbledon will not be held over 15 days. The event will be the usual 14 days. Let's just hope, unlike the French Open, there is not too much rain. Here is everything you might need to know about the tournaments, however.

When is the draw for Wimbledon?

The draw for the tournament will be held on June 28. The seedings will follow the current rankings on the ATP and WTA tours. This means Jannik Sinner will be the top seed on the men's side and Iga Swiatek will be the top seed on the women's side.

In 2023, Carlos Alcaraz won on the men's side and he could be seeded either second or third in 2024. If Novak Djokovic is able to play after having recent knee surgery, the Serb will be seeded second.

Marketa Vondrousova won on the women's side last year. She seems set to be seeded sixth. Coco Gauff will likely be the second seed after Swiatek with Aryna Sabalenka seeded third.

How much do players get for winning Wimbledon? And what about ranking points?

The winner for both the men's and women's sides will be awarded 2,000 ranking points. The runner-up will get 1,300 points. Then things get a little weird. Men's semifinalists will each get 800 points and quarterfinalists will receive 400 points. The WTA awards 780 points to semifinalists and 430 points to quarterfinalists. If a player shows up and loses in the first round, they get a whopping 10 points.

Wimbledon awards money evenly so the men and women make the same amount, thankfully. The winners will each receive 2.7 million pounds ($3,419,064). The runner-up will get 1.4 million pounds ($1,772,848). A semifinalist will receive 715,000 pounds ($905,418), and a quarterfinalist 375,000 pounds ($474,870). If a person plays a first-round match and loses they still receive 60,000 pounds ($75,979).
