The way tennis does Grand Slam events is a bit odd. Part of the issue is when the weather is warm in different parts of the world, of course, but not having a major just a few weeks into a new tennis season would be ideal. Maybe holding the Australian Open in early March, for instance, would give the season time to build drama.
Then, fans get two majors nearly back-to-back with the French Open and Wimbledon. Those seem to work well so close together, however.
Assuming there are no key injuries, 2026 should be fun. Will Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner battle in literally every Grand Slam final? Will Iga Swiatek catch up to Aryna Sabalenka? These guesses at who will win the majors might help.
Predictions for who will win each tennis Grand Slam in 2026
Australian Open
- Women's winner: Aryna Sabalenka
- Men's winner: Carlos Alcaraz
Let's be honest, Sabalenka owns the continent of Australia currently, and when she does lose (as she did at the Aussie Open in 2025), it seems otherworldly shocking. Going into the year, she has a wide point lead over No. 2 Iga Swiatek, but she can help that by getting back to winning in the heat of Melbourne.
Alcaraz hasn't made it past the quarterfinals at the first major of the year, which is all the more surprising because he is so successful everywhere else. He fired Juan Carlos Ferrero late in 2025, and while part of that might have been off-court issues, the Spaniard might have also thought the coach didn't prepare him well enough for the Australian Open.
French Open
- Women's winner: Iga Swiatek
- Men's winner: Carlos Alcaraz
Let's go with the easy ones here. Swiatek didn't win the major last year after taking the title in the previous three years. That felt like an accident, though, when the Pole was undergoing a slight dip in form.
Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner in 2025 in arguably the greatest men's tennis match ever. Can they top it in Paris in 2026? Unlikely, but Alcaraz will still win.
Wimbledon
- Women's winner: Amanda Anisimova
- Men's winner: Carlos Alcaraz
This would be quite the rebound for the American, as she was bagelled in the final at Wimbledon in 2025 by Swiatek. It was an embarrassing performance, likely due to nerves. She's learned quite a lot since then and will find redemption at the tournament this year.
Alcaraz was bested by Sinner in the Wimbledon final in 2025, but he seemed set on dominating the grass-court event for years before that. He will get his third Wimbledon title in 2026.
US Open
- Women's winner: Aryna Sabalenka
- Men's winner: Joao Fonseca
Sabalenka might be making New York her own as much as she has Melbourne for much of the last few years. The Belarusian has won the US Open in each of the past two seasons, and she is terrifically difficult to beat on a fast hard court. Unless she is injured, she should be the heavy favorite to win for the third straight year.
Someone has to finally compete for majors with Alcaraz and Sinner, and why could that not be Fonseca, who will turn 20 years old a couple of weeks before the US Open final? He has the game, and he will have the maturity by the end of 2026 to become a longtime threat to the top two players.
