The quarterfinals of the 2025 Australian Open begin on Tuesday (or Monday night in the Western Hemisphere, and the real fun is beginning. Most of the tournament favorites remain so the matches should be high-intensity bouts of brilliance. Could Novak Djokovic win his 11th title in Melbourne? Could Carlos Alcaraz win his first?

The favorites likely still are Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner. Both won last year and are in excellent form; there is no reason to doubt them. This is especially true for Sabalenka as she has lost only once in Australia in about three years. She is part of the action on Day 10.

But who will win the matches? Will there be any massive upsets? Here are some guesses.

Predictions for Day 10 of the 2025 Australian Open

Coco Gauff versus Paula Badosa

The two players have faced each other six times, so they won't be surprised by anything the other one does. Plus, the head-to-head has been competitive and is tied at three apiece. The last two matches have gone a full three sets. In other words, either player is capable of winning this match. We picked Badosa to pull the upset earlier this week, and we won't change now. The Spaniard wins in three sets.

Tommy Paul versus Alexander Zverev

Paul is playing exceedingly well and has only dropped a total of 11 games in his last two matches. Zverev has only dropped one set so far in the tournament. Something clearly will have to give. The two have only played each other twice and not at all since 2022. The difference will be the German's fantastic serve and he will defeat Paul in four sets.

Aryna Sabalenka versus Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova

Pavlyuchenkova is no stranger to reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open as she has done so three times before this year. She has not made it past that round, though, and she won't in 2025, either. Sabalenka is currently nearly unbeatable in Melbourne and she will win in three sets.

Novak Djokovic versus Carlos Alcaraz

While Alcaraz is the ascending player, and Djokovic is closer to the end of his career, this matchup remains fairly even. Sure, the Spaniard dominated the Serb in the Wimbledon final last year, but Djokovic has won three of the last four times the two have met. That includes a win in the final of the Paris Olympics. The guess here is that Alcaraz wins the match in four sets.
