Carlos Alcaraz's My Way documentary series has been out for a month, but Rafael Nadal is the first to critique Netflix's depiction of him.

Nadal recently told L'Equipe that he believed Netflix portrayed Alcaraz as a person interested in partying and not very professional. He disagreed with the streaming provider's portrayal, explaining that what he knows about Alcaraz is that he is a true professional who works and trains hard.

The Netflix crew followed Alcaraz last year as he turned 21 and won both the French Open and Wimbledon. There was a celebratory theme. Neither Alcaraz, his team, nor his family members have publicly shared Nadal's opinion.

Rafael Nadal's take is appropriate and interesting

From what tennis fans have seen from Nadal during his legendary career, it is unsurprising that he would have a serious take on Alcaraz's Netflix documentary. Nadal was the consummate professional who ate, drank, lived, and breathed tennis for decades, so this view of a fellow Spanish tennis player is contrary to any of his beliefs.

Nadal publicly criticizing Netflix is intriguing because he has his project in the works with the streaming provider. Netflix also followed him in 2024 as he ended his competitive tennis career. After hearing his complaints about Alcaraz's final product, we envision he will have even tighter control over his finished product.

Nadal has a big weekend ahead

Rafael Nadal will focus on the French Open opening day, Sunday, May 25. The French Tennis Federation and Roland Garros are planning a ceremony in his honor. French Open tournament director Amelie Mauresmo has kept the details under wraps, but she promised it would be simple, authentic, and accurate, just like Nadal.

Mauresmo promised surprises for Nadal and tennis fans watching. Does that mean Roger Federer will be there? We do not know. All we know is that Alcaraz will be in attendance.
