Serena Williams was already playing doubles ahead of Wimbledon, and that was fun. But nothing beats watching the all-time queen of the WTA perform in singles. How many major doubles titles has she won, for instance? While everyone knows she has won 23 singles Grand Slam titles.
The answer to the above, by the way, is 14, at least two at each Grand Slam and six at Wimbledon. In other words, Williams has won a ridiculous total of 37 majors.
But when will Williams' first-round singles match at Wimbledon begin? We know it will be played on Tuesday, June 30, and the time won't likely be exact. That's because Williams will play 20-year-old Maya Joint in the last match on center court for the day. If the previous matches run long, the time for Williams' match will get pushed back.
Serena Williams will play her first-round Wimbledon match on June 30, with a time still to be determined
It will not happen sooner than 5 pm BST, which is 12 pm ET. The earlier matches on center court include 2025 Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek against Taylor Townsend, and then Taylor Fritz taking on British hopeful Jack Draper. As men's Grand Slam matches are best three-of-five sets, Williams might not play until well after he earliest start time.
Center court at Wimbledon does have lights, though, so even if the earlier matches run long, Williams should still be able to play.
Serena will also play with her sister, Venus, in doubles, but their first match will not happen until Thursday or Friday. If Serena Williams does win her first-round match, she could next face Alexandra Eale in round two. That would be on Thursday, which could also be the day she plays in doubles.
