Wimbledon 2025 is through eight days, and after the tournament's massive number of upsets in the first couple of rounds, things have begun to even out a bit. Sort of.
Day 8 was trending toward tennis fans seeing a major upset with Grigor Dimitrov leading Jannik Sinner two sets to love, but with the third set tied at 2, Dimitrov suffered a pec injury and was forced to retire. It was the fifth straight major in which he has had to retire.
Many famous faces were seen watching Monday's matches, however. One of these is one of the best players in the history of tennis, who had a front-row view of Novak Djokovic defeating Alex de Minaur.
Roger Federer watches Novak Djokovic defeat Alex de Minaur
The former player was Roger Federer who was dressed to the nines to catch Djokovic. The Serb even admitted to being slightly nervous that Federer was watching, mostly because the last two times the Swiss great had watched the Serb, Djokovic had lost. Federer laughed at the joke during the on-court interview.
Djokovic will next play Flavio Cobolli in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. There is no word if Federer will attend the match.
Ben Shelton's sister is his Wimbledon lucky charm
Ben Shelton is also through to the quarterfinals. He will play lucky winner Sinner in his quarterfinal match on Wednesday, and the hope is that Shelton's sister, Emma, will also be at the match. Emma, a former college player herself, has been at her brother's entire Wimbledon run so far because she was able to get off work for a week.

“My sister’s here. She’s been here for every match I’ve played. She’s been the lucky charm. But she has work back in the US starting Monday. She works for Morgan Stanley”
*crowd boos*
“Ay ay ay! Come on now” 😭

After Ben called Emma his "lucky charm" in an on-court interview after his third-round victory on Saturday, though, he also said Emma would have to retire to her day job on Monday. She works for Morgan Stanley in Atlanta, Georgia.
Something must have happened in a good way between Emma and her employer, however, because she was seen cheering on her brother during his fourth-round win on Monday. Did she get a second week off, too? If Ben Shelton keeps winning, let's hope so.
What is happening on Day 9 of Wimbledon?
The first day of the Wimbledon quarterfinals (Day 9 of the tournament) will feature four matches. Taylor Fritz will begin the day against Karen Khachanov at 1 pm BST (8 am ET) on Court 1. Fritz should be favored in a match that features two players with big serves.
The first match on Centre Court has Aryna Sabalenka taking on Laura Siegemund at 1:30 pm BST. Sabalenka should be the heavy favorite in that match as she tries to reach (and win) her first Wimbledon final.
Following Fritz and Khachanov on Court 1 will be Amanda Anisimova versus Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. While neither player is ranked in the top 10 on the WTA tour, both have the games to win Wimbledon. After all, the last two winners in London on the ladies' side have both been surprises.
The day will likely finish on Centre Court with a match between two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and Cameron Norrie. Norrie will be favored to lose, but the Brit will have his home crowd behind him.
