What?!? Shouldn’t Djokovic be ranked on the top of the list? Perhaps, but pulling off the Indian Wells-Miami duo is one of the hardest feats in tennis. It has been accomplished by only seven men since the Masters series began, Djokovic being one of them. History tells us that Djokovic can’t keep this level of domination up forever. Past players have looked unbeatable and still fallen.
Still, Djokovic has a tendency to buck history. If you have watched him play at all this year, it is hard to picture anyone beating him. The draw sets up nicely. Ferrer is in his quarter and Djokovic has never had much trouble with him, winning the least seven straight. A semifinal match against Nishikori or Raonic could be tricky. Nishikori proved at the US Open that he can hang with the best and the serve of Raonic can pull off a surprise win.
Yes, Djokovic is the world No.1. Yes, he is probably the favorite in every match he plays. He still has a very good chance to win this title, but the dominance has to end at some point, right?
