Kevin Anderson Jumps in Singles Rankings Thanks to Wimbledon

Kevin Anderson is now in his highest career singles ranking ever. The South African jumps in the rankings thanks to his recent performance.
Kevin Anderson makes a leap in the ATP World Tour singles rankings this week. After finishing runner-up to Serbian great Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon, Anderson notches a career high in men’s singles. Thanks to his second ever major tournament final, the South African is riding high. Despite falling just short of a Grand Slam title, Anderson has far more positives to take away from his recent performance in London.
Djokovic defeats Anderson in a tough three set finals meeting. While Nole appeared in control throughout the match, the towering South African put up a solid fight in the third set.

Earlier in his play at Wimbledon, Anderson took down Swiss superstar Roger Federer. The Swiss great was the defending champion and heavy favorite. He already has one Grand Slam singles title on the year after winning the Australian Open. Cruising through his time in London, Anderson emerged as an unexpected roadblock for Federer. While it is nothing to worry about moving forward for Federer, the moment was huge for the South African tennis veteran. Defeating the top seed and defending champion gave him a semifinals meeting with American John Isner. The two tennis veterans clashed in an epic five set thriller in the semis. It would be Anderson though coming away with the win. He takes the fifth set 26-24.
Kevin Anderson jumps three places in the men’s singles rankings this week. His runner-up finish at the 2018 Wimbledon Championships thrusts him to new career heights.

Look for Kevin Anderson to continue his success throughout the remainder of the 2018 ATP World Tour. There is one more Grand Slam on the calendar in the US Open. Last year, the South African reached the finals at Flushing Meadows. He, Djokovic, Federer, and Rafael Nadal must be considered the players to beat right now. Several veteran greats are taking over when it matters most at the majors.
