As top seed and current French Open champion Simona Halep splashes out of the event at Flushing Meadows, the field is wide open.

Other women’s singles stars such as Caroline Wozniacki or defending US Open champion Sloane Stephens must be considered the favorites moving forward. Pliskova, however, is a former finalist and could continue on.

In the way of Karolina Pliskova is Sofia Kenin. Here is the young tennis star celebrating on the courts at Flushing Meadows. Kenin is not going down without a fight in her upcoming match against the former world number one in Pliskova.
