Roger Federer Remembers Coach, Prepares for Australian Open

Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer was brought to tears while remembering his late coach. Federer is preparing to defend his Australian Open title.

As Australian Open champion Roger Federer prepares to defend his title again at Melbourne Park, he is full of emotion. During an interview with CNN’s Christina Macfarlane, the tennis icon broke down into tears while remembering his late coach Peter Carter.

HERE, you can take a look at the interview with Federer and watch him speak fondly of Carter. Overcome with emotion, Federer hoped that his late coach would be proud of his career today. Carter passed away the year prior to him winning Wimbledon for the first time.

The Australian Open is now rapidly approaching. Players around the entire ATP Tour and WTA Tour are gearing up for the action and getting in their final reps at tournaments leading up to it. Federer is a two-time defending champion at Melbourne Park. He also has six total men’s singles titles at the first Grand Slam event of the calendar year.

Roger Federer is a 6-time Australian Open champion, winning most recently in both 2017 and 2018.

Federer credits much of his playing style to his late coach. Carter was instrumental in the early days of the now 20-time Grand Slam singles champion. And Federer may not even be finished.

He has remained high atop the men’s singles rankings throughout the past two years and he is one of OUR FAVORITES at the upcoming Australian Open. His biggest challenger at the upcoming major will be current world number one Novak Djokovic.

The Serbian tennis star rocketed back atop the men’s singles rankings last year after taking titles at both Wimbledon and the US Open. Like Federer, Djokovic has seen immense success at the Australian Open throughout his career.
